The Golf GTD is a high-performing iteration of Volkswagen’s popular family car, and is available in three or five-door body styles. This smart-looking hatchback offers the best of both worlds with its quick turn of pace and low running costs.
The Golf GTD sports a number of eye-catching features, including a honeycomb radiator grille with chrome-trimmed inserts, 18-inch alloy wheels and a rear spoiler. Body-coloured fixtures include unique bumpers and side skirts, as well as door handles and electrically adjustable, folding and heated door mirrors, the latter featuring integrated indicator lights. Further illumination comprises bi-Xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED front fog lamps, LED tail lights and high-level brake light.
Front-row occupants will enjoy sinking into height-adjustable and lumbar-supporting sports seats, and the driver also benefits from a height-and-reach-adjustable three-spoke steering wheel. The latter is leather-trimmed, multifunctional and is embellished with the GTD logo. Other standard features include stainless steel pedals, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, electric front windows, two-zone electronic air conditioning and a heated rear windscreen. Smart cubby space includes under-seat drawers in the front compartment and an illuminated and cooling glovebox. Boot volume ranges from 380 litres (all seats up) to 1,270 litres (rear seats folded).
A 2.0-litre 135kW diesel engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, producing 0-100km/h in just under ten seconds (0-80km/h in roughly eight seconds). The pacy GTD is surprisingly fuel-efficient, returning as much as 4.4 l/100km and CO2 emissions as low as 114g/km. Electronic differential lock, battery regeneration and start/stop system are all featured as standard.
A 6.5-inch colour touchscreen is your gateway to a range of infotainment features, such as a CD player, an AM/FM radio, navigation functionality and Bluetooth connectivity. The Golf GTD has been awarded a Euro NCAP five-star rating, and driving aids such as Anti-lock Braking System, tyre pressure indicators, parking sensors and driver alert system are featured. Passive safety elements include childproof locks, ISOFIX anchor points, three-point seatbelts and whiplash-optimised head restraints. The vehicle is secured with an alarm, an electronic engine immobiliser and remote central locking.
