Volkswagen Beetle

Volkswagen Beetle

The Volkswagen Beetle was first established in 1938, and ever since, it has become an instantly recognisable motoring icon. The car received an overhaul as recently as 2012, resulting in the sporty iteration that is available now.

Exterior

The three-door Beetle comes with a striking Black paint scheme as standard, while other colours, such as Pure White, Tornado Red and Blue Silk are available as options. Perfectly complementing the vehicle’s paintwork are body-coloured fixtures such as bumpers and door mirrors. The latter are electrically heated and adjustable and feature integrated indicator lights. Further illumination includes range-adjustable headlights and a high-level brake light.

Interior

A four-person cabin provides height-adjustable front seats, and the driver also has the benefit of a tilt-and-telescopic three-spoke steering wheel. Other standard features include speed-sensitive power-assisted steering, electric front windows, a heated rear windscreen, air conditioning and two 12-volt power points. Among the Beetle’s range of cubby spaces are a lockable glovebox, a dashboard compartment and front and rear cup-holders. An illuminated 310-litre boot capacity can be expanded to 905 litres simply by folding the vehicle’s 50/50 split-folding rear seats.

Performance

Fitted as standard is a 1.2-litre 78kW petrol engine. This is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and delivers up to 5.5 l/100km and a 128g/km CO2 emissions figure. For even greater fuel efficiency, a 2.0-litre 81kW diesel unit, paired with five-speed manual transmission, returns as much as 4.3 l/100km and CO2 emissions as low as 112g/km.

Technology and safety

A five-inch colour touchscreen display, an eight-speaker sound system (including DAB radio and a CD player) and SD and AUX interfaces are all included as standard. The Beetle comes with Euro NCAP’s maximum five-star rating, and driver aids include Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control and Automatic Post-Collision Braking System. A range of passive safety elements are featured too, such as multiple airbags, three-point seatbelts, seatbelt reminders and ISOFIX child-seat fixtures.
