Eco - Grant Save up up €6,500

New EcoGrant offer

  • Encourages scrappage of older diesel vehicles against purchase of latest, Euro 6 models
  • Incentives of up to €6,500, according to model, applies to new petrol/diesel and plug-in hybrid / fully electric models
  • Combined with SEAI and VRT grants, customers can benefit from €14,000 off the price of a new e-Golf
  • Vehicles traded will be scrapped to ensure positive impact on environment
  • Offer available to owners of any pre-Euro 5 diesel vehicle

Dublin, 1st September, 2017 Volkswagen Group Ireland brands, Audi, SEAT, Škoda, Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles are encouraging the uptake of latest generation, lower-emission new cars, hand-in-hand with the removal, of older, Euro 1-4* emissions standard vehicles from the Irish car parc, by today launching an attractive EcoGrant offer.

Owners of any diesel vehicle that complies with Euro 1-4 emissions legislation qualify for the EcoGrant offer**. They are able to trade-in the vehicle to benefit from incentives - ranging from €800 to €6,500 - against a range of Audi, SEAT, Škoda and Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, if the vehicle is ordered by 31 December 2017. The trade-in vehicle needs to have been owned by the customer for at least six months.

All new Audi, SEAT, Škoda and Volkswagen petrol and diesel vehicles meet the latest Euro 6 emissions standards, currently the most stringent yet. There is a huge choice of models to choose from under the EcoGrant offer, starting from entry-level cars such as the SEAT Mii, Škoda Citigo and Audi A1, to traditional favourites such as the Volkswagen Golf, Škoda Octavia and SEAT Leon, right up to larger models such as the Audi A6, Volkswagen Passat and Škoda Superb.

Lars Himmer, CEO of Volkswagen Group Ireland, said: “The EcoGrant offers customers of older diesel vehicles the opportunity to change into one of our new, lower emission models across our range, including models from Audi, SEAT, Škoda and Volkswagen.

“Not only will this appeal to customers of one of our Euro 6 petrol and diesel cars,” he continued. “There are additional incentives for our range of plug-in hybrid and full electric vehicles too.

“In the case of the new Volkswagen eGolf with 300km range, when you combine this offer with the existing government VRT rebate and SEAI grants for electric vehicles, there is a total of €14,000 off the full price of the car. And in the case of the Audi A3 e-tron there is a total of €12,000 off the full price of the car. But what is particularly significant about EcoGrant is that we are actually going to take the qualifying vehicles off the road, with a Certificate of Destruction required to avail of the EcoGrant.”

All details of these offers, including additional financing offers are available from our Volkswagen Group Retailer Network, or in the coming week on the individual Group brand websites - with orders possible from September 8.

Notes:

* Euro emissions standard

The ‘Euro 1’ standard was introduced in 1992 to help reduce vehicle emissions. Progressively more stringent Euro standards have been implemented since then - helping to lower emissions still further - with Euro 5 being introduced in 2009/2010.

‘Euro 6’, the standard that all new petrol and diesel cars must meet, is currently the toughest yet.

The latest news from Newmarket Motors

Newmarket Motors is a thriving business in an ever-changing industry. If a new car isn’t being launched, then it’s likely that a model is being refreshed or trim line is being added to the range.

Of course, Volkswagen cars are our bread and butter, but we do a lot more than sell vehicles. Did you know that we are also very active in the local community? For example, we provide the Newmarket GAA team with sponsorship and our brand is emblazoned across the senior team’s shirt.
